Kopenhagen or Copenhagen or København

Last week we arose early and traveled 4 hours (via car and ferry) up to the LDS temple in København. On the ferry the wind had a party :)
Today, for some reason, there are not many words, so I will just share the pictures. :) Hooray!
Here I am looking at my cute husband :)
The foam looked like lovely lace.
Here we are at the temple! It is mostly made of red brick--which is uncommon for temples, but it fits right in here. In northern Germany (and apparently Denmark) that appears to be the style--that, and thatched roofs, which is the older traditional style, but red brick is still 'in'. This temple was also a ward building (church building for normal Sunday meetings) before it was renovated and turned into the temple.
Here was a snazzy Dane who took a picture of our group. (Look closely at the footwear.. :P :) )
And here we are in front of the sign that says (translated):
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Temple in Copenhagen, Denmark
It was lovely to be in a temple of the Lord again. Among other things, we got to do proxy baptisms for people who have died without having heard about Christ and/or having been baptized in the Church. They are waiting in the spirit world and can choose whether or not to accept this proxy ordinance. Since we don't know who will accept and who will reject it, and because we believe that everyone needs to be baptized by a person who has the proper priesthood authority to return to live with God, we try and do as many baptisms as we can to help those, who have gone before, one step further in their progression.

(Sorry if that seems "kind of rambly" (to quote F), but I just wanted to explain in case anyone was wondering what we actually do in temples :), because, for example, we don't hold normal Sunday services there..)

Anyway, I was filled with such joy as I was waiting there to be proxy-baptized! I was happy anyway, but there was such joy there in the room and I think at least some of the people, for whom we were being baptized, were there and were grateful! It was wonderful to be able to serve our ancestors in that way.

Here we are on the ferry ride home. Don't we look glamorous?

And here as a p.s. is F at our Sommerfest (Summer Festival), face-painted as minion. Two 8-year-old girls were the artists :)
And here is proof of the endurance of plants. Tommy is taking over our window and has moved on to round two of blossoms-that-shall-become-tomatoes ("Ya' know, Sylvia-Louise, with a hyphen" -What's Up Doc). However, some of the stems have meanwhile become so bent that they seemed to have shriveled and to be no longer receiving sufficient nourishment..however this little guy managed to pull out enough to go from green to red despite apparent stem death. That stem has looked dead since he was green..but he pushed through! Meanwhile his neighbor has at least turned orange..we'll see if he makes it too!
