A book I remember fondly from my childhood is "The Hungry Thing". In it, a monster comes into town wearing a sign around his neck that says 'Feed me'. The townspeople ask him what he wants, but they don't understand what he is asking for. Finally a child manages to 'translate' his request for 'boop with a smacker' into 'soup with a cracker'. This translation is needed for several requests and each is amusing :).
A similar transformation happened with these turkish hot peppers. They are apparently called "Körpe Biber", but to me that sounds pretty close to "Körbe Bieber" which means "baskets beaver" in German.
So I have been calling them "basket beavers" for the past couple of days and then Frederik pointed out that it looked like they were swimming..or at the very least, you could say they are underwater. They are, therefore, "underwater basket beavers". (And in college didn't everyone want to become an "underwater basket Weaver?")
And there we have a wonderful case of "boop with a smacker" that becomes something delicious and edible :)--or in this case something delicious and edible became something amusing and wet... :D

Another favorite language thing of mine are Spoonerisms, where you switch the first letters or sounds of things--and I tend to make them accidentally when very tired.. :) And now I am also tired and can't seem to think of any...go figure :D
