I'm officially a 1st grade teacher!!!

It has finally happened! I'm now a first grade teacher! (I guess I was already working a few hours last year during my practicum, but..) This is it! I am doing that for which I got all that education :) (and getting paid for it!) Hooray.

We had the official "Welcome to School" ceremony for the first graders on the Saturday of the first week of school. I was welcomed as the new first grade teacher and given a triangle :).
I called each of the students to the front and gave them their ...school cone? It's a German tradition that on the first day of first grade each child gets a cone full of school supplies and treats :)
Then after the new students were sitting in front,
I began to tell a story,
All, young and old, listened intently. Ah, the power of a story!
But I did not finish it (all the others let out a moan of disappointment--and a student even asked me a few days after if the children had found the magic healing well ;) ). Then I invited the students to follow me in the classroom and at the end of our little half hour class I told some more of the story. That way the students have something special --just for them--the continuation of the story. (This is typical at Waldorf first-day-of-school ceremonies.)

Then we went out and took a picture. Such cute kids!
Here is a picture of my classroom and the four-seasons-table:
Some of the students made hedgehogs out of clay :)
