(this was back in July..no worries :) we are currently still in Germany and are planning on staying for the foreseeable future)
For various reasons we needed to come back to Calgary..and while we were here, we got to go the Calgary Stampede, "The Largest Outdoor Show on Earth"! They're celebrating 100 years of the Stampede this year. (That meant that, as we were coming out of the terminal in the airport, some older guy in a cowboy hat lassoed me and a woman in a cowboy hat "branded" our hands with a CS stamp...yeah..they kinda get into the cowboy thing up here.)
We went to a parade and enjoyed seeing the bagpipers, the color guards, etc. We also invented a new style of hat, using simple tripod camping chairs. We went to the fair grounds, ate a deep fried Oreo--yum! Not that I will make a habit of it, but it was nice and soft and yummy!
We also went to Moraine Lake and Lake Louise with C, F's sister, and her husband, D. We had a lovely time and saw lots of pretty mountains and two very blue lakes. We managed to stand in Moraine Lake for 3 minutes and 8 seconds. Well, we were in there for a bit longer, but for our competition we were in that long--to see who could stand in the glacial lake the longest.
At about 3 minutes I decided it would be good for me to get out, because of the Reynaud's syndrome in my hands and feet. I said that I would be willing to give in, and then my sweet husband stepped out of the water at the exact same time as I did :). So we both managed the 3 minutes and 8 seconds. What a cutie :)
Anyway, it was fun to see family again and helpful to get a few more things dealt with.
