We are expecting ... baby tomatoes!

Yup, you read that correctly. We are expecting baby tomatoes--at least 24! And the blossoms are still coming, so we're really expecting more than that.
Our beautiful Tommy Tomato Plant has already tripled in size on our window sill.
He daily proclaims his joy by opening yellow buds and sprouting forth green tomatoes. We are so proud of him :)
Look at those tender fine little hairs!
And the sun almost glowing through the leaves :)
These are Tommy's neighbors--Peter, our Parsley plant (in German, it's called Petersilie..), the mystery sprouts (just planted some old seeds but have no idea what they are...), and Chuck, our gum tree.
One of my favorite things is that Tommy smells like a tomato plant--sometimes I get the smell on my fingers and it makes me think of our garden growing up. I loved harvesting the sun-ripened cherry tomatoes :) --I know that "sun-ripened" has become cliché, but really it is a true joy! Sun-ripened and sun-warmed. Apricots are best that way too--like at my grandparents' house :) Happy memories.
And no worries, I already let my parents and my parents-in-law know that this joke was coming. If any announcement about expecting a baby human were to come, then we would have told them personally beforehand.
As for the rest of you..who knows, perhaps someday, instead of little baby tomatoes, you'll see Anne-Geddes-style babies dressed up as tomatoes! And that's how you'll know. ;) In the meantime, we will be enjoying our dozens of tomato babies--and you'll have to content yourselves with not-quite-Anne-Geddes tomatoes dressed up as babies!
