Calligraphy + birthday cards

This year (third grade) at the Waldorf school I taught my students cursive. It seems like more and more cursive is being left out (or cut out) of curricula, but I personally enjoy writing in cursive. As a teen I would often write in my journal in cursive. In Germany it also seems to be more prevalent to still teach it.
In any event, in keeping with the theme of writing well + beautifully, my birthday cards have been focused on beautiful letters -- somewhat in the style of illuminated manuscripts (although without the gold leaf ;) )
Then I also got a calligraphy set for my birthday! Hooray! I remember my mom starting to teach me calligraphy in middle school (?). Unfortunately I didn't keep at it for very long. However, now I was excited to try. I think you can tell that I've been working on finely-crafted writing, because these first attempts turned out well! :)
(Another interest of mine from high school: Tengwar (script of the language Quenya from Middle Earth). This one I pursued a bit more diligently and was able to, for a while, write letters to my friends in tengwar. :) Now I just wrote some nonsense letters that I could remember :), seen in the first photo)
