We're expecting...a real BABY this time :)

What's with the weird title you may ask? Well, you may remember our post from a few years ago about expecting baby tomatoes :)
As cute as these are, ours'll be cuter :)
To be fair, as click-baity as the post was, I did mention the tomatoes in the title. However, apparently one of my sisters didn't find the joke all that funny, because the full extent of her reaction were these two words (just dripping with sisterly love, I'm sure :) ):
"you jerk"
Aaaanyway, our family members have all been notified beforehand, but in case we haven't been in touch with the rest of you so recently, yes, it's true! We are expecting a tiny human to join our family the end of August!

In fact, here's a question (that sounds like the intro to a joke...) for you + some cute pictures:

What do you get when you cross a Linguist-Philosopher-Doctoral-candidate with an artistic Waldorf teacher?
Answer: a θ** or "theta"

We love our θ already!
Our Theta’s already a wiggler and likes to wave during ultrasounds :).

Theta in the 13th week
As it turns out, this was our first family photo (with a family of 3) :)
Do you see those proverbial twinkles in our going-to-become-parent-eyes?
I'm currently in the fourth month of pregnancy and everything is going swimmingly! I definitely have a heightened sense of smell, but my main worry about needing to puke multiple times a day (as my mother had to with all 5 of us!) turned out to be unfounded! Hooray! There's not yet much of a tummy to see, but we'll get there :)

We are very excited and, like typical new parents I think, are trying to plan and consider everything, while acknowledging that it's all going to happen differently anyway :D We're in fact grateful to have even gotten to an emotional/psychological state where this was a viable option -- and then that getting pregnant worked out :D -- and that so far, so good.

We've been to different birthing clinics and found one we like and we are grateful for the German health care system (health insurance covers pretty much everything -- including midwives! In fact, legally a midwife has to be at the birth, a doctor may be there. Germany rocks! So, if any of you are wanting to give birth...Germany's a great place to do it :D )

-- Cheers from us + our Kleiner Mensch (which means "little human"...and since our last name means "little", well...it works out great! thus, another of its nicknames :) )

** θ is the symbol for voiceless /th/ (as in “three”) or “theta” in IPA (the International Phonetic Alphabet). Our /th/ stands for “tiny human”.

We were discussing this one day (yes, we talk about things like linguistics in regular conversation :) ), and I doodled around with the θ and thus, one of the many nicknames our tiny human has already earned was 'born' -- including an illustration! :)

The Forsyths are coming through in "spades." On the way to the gym this morning with Jon and Lori in the car I made a partial commitment - I mentioned that I was trying to use up all of my levi scraps/squares I already had cut so I was thinking of making small quilt tops, sort of lap quilt size. Maybe I could give those to the great grandkids?? So, we'll see what happens. I had decided midway through 2017 that I might not be around when Peter, who turned 7 last year, was ready to get married. So, I decided I would make all of the quilt tops ahead so they'd be ready to put together as quilts even if I had "bit the dust" by the time they were needed. I had already made 4 quilts, since 4 grandchildren were already married. That left 25 more to make! I am laying the last one of those 25 down on the carpet this morning to make final adjustments before beginning the stitching together part, actually #29 will be done this week. So, I need another project to keep me off the streets. We are so pleased that things seem to be going well. Hang in there - it gets even more interesting as time goes on. Love, Grandma T
